Selling Opportunities Come From Everywhere, part 3

February 23, 2010 by David Dassow

If you work in-side-sales at a cemetery there are opportunities for additional sales in the most unlikely places.

I’m going to list 10 areas you can create a sale out of nothing without really trying.

Part one & two the first three opportunities:

  1. Trolling for dollars
  2. A strategy for covering funerals
  3. Use a display 2-step postcard/brochure
  4. Walk-in 411 opportunities
  5. JV opportunities
  6. Ask for referrals

We’re up to:

Opportunity Number Seven

Always be looking for advocates.  In the “Starter Package” I talk about Mining Your Natural Market.  Nothing beats tapping into your spheres of influence.  You can leverage your contacts through a systematic, well thought out, non-threatening (in other words, keep your friends….friends) easy approach.

See the catalog page for the “Starter Package”

Advocates are people who like doing business with you and willing to let you tap into their spheres of influence and share those experiences with friends and relatives.

Opportunity Number Eight

Build lists of people like-minded or similar in situations.  I have multiple lists of people with different circumstances.

For instance, in-house-sales have access to the cemetery vault files.  Those files contain people who need package completions, funeral arrangements, additional grave spaces, next-of-kin who do not own.

Target your sales letters, post cards, and personal notes to the particular situation.

Be sure you and develop speed when implementing.  It is important to find short cuts.  This is the perfect opportunity for you to take one letter and do several specific knock-offs of it for each situation.

For example; I would send a slightly different note to people who need items at the cemetery than people who have experienced a death.  Be sensitive to the situation.

See my “Sales Letter Package” for more on sales letters, postcards, newsletters, samples. results, and more.

Go to the Catalog page for the “sales Letter Package” description.

Next time we’ll cover Opportunity Number Nine

Happy Selling!
