Sales Letters Part 10

We’re up to part 10 in our series on Sales Letters. 

Let’s review a few of the necessary components to a good sales letter both writing and mailing.

Here’s a list of the Top 10 Items a Sales Letter must have in no particular order:

  1. Headline
  2. Subheads
  3. Simple short sentences
  4. Paragraphs no longer than 6 lines
  5. It must be interesting to your target audience (each sentence is designed to get them to read the next sentence)
  6. It must be conversational
  7. It must have testimonials
  8. It must have a P.S.
  9. It must have an “offer”
  10. It must have a dual readership path

Here’s a list of the Top 10 things you must do before mailing your Sales Letter in no particular order:

  1. What are the economics?  What is your average size sale?  How much does your ROI need to be to make a profit?
  2. Test your Sales Letter
  3. Have you identified a niche prospecting group?
  4. Have you matched your message (communication) with your niche group?
  5. Do you have a sequence of sales letters (one shot mailings don’t work)?
  6. Did you set aside your sales letter for a few days and re-read it out loud?
  7. Did you check to make sure phone numbers, email, and or addresses are correct?
  8. If someone responds to your sales letter do you have additional information ready to send out?
  9. What day of the week are you mailing your sales letter? 
  10. Do you have a tracking system in place?

Checklists are great to keep you on track and help you remember all the necessary components of writing great sales letters and mailing great sales letters.
