Make time to stop and think

November 14, 2009 by David Dassow

I gotta tell you, as most of you know by now, my technological skills are pretty bad.  I’m not a big fan of technology for several reasons including the rate at which things are changing.  As soon as I get used to one gadget there’s another one on the way.

A friend of mine is always giving me a hard time because I don’t have the latest gadget.  It turns out I’m several generations behind in technology.

One of the reasons I’m not big on technology is because there’s no escaping it.

I know way to many people who get up in the morning, plug into these devices, and stay plugged in until they go to bed.

Many of these folks cannot visit the bathroom without taking these devices with them.

When you add it all up there’s no down time.

There’s no time to take a breath and relax and think.  You’ve got to find some down time to just think.  I’m not talking about sitting in front of the television.  I’m talking about a little bit of down time without interruptions.

“To do much clear thinking a man must arrange for regular periods of solitude when he can concentrate and indulge his imagination without distraction.”  –Thomas Edison

Take a few minutes, schedule a little time, but un-plug yourself from these gadgets for a short time and give your self some breathing time, some thinking time.

Happy Selling!
