The Pre-Need Seller Conquering Fears
December 11, 2009 by David Dassow
There’s an old famous story of Winston Churchill and Lady Astor.
She said to him, “You are disgustingly drunk” and he said, “Yes, madam, I am drunk, but you are ugly, and I will be sober in the morning.”
Now, I’m not advocating getting drunk or even drinking.
What I’m advocating is the freedom for the Pre-Need Seller from fear of loss and other opinions from persons who make judgements of others.
This is why I’m glad I’m not a politician. Politicans seem to live and die on public opinion polls. You must rid yourself of fear of others’ opinions especially when they hamper or obstruct your performance.
Years ago I saw an interview on television with the reporter telling the CEO that there was a derogatory article and picture in a popular magazine referring to him as a pig. The reporter asked the CEO what he thought about it. This should tell you something. I can barely remember the circumstances but I loved the CEO’s reply.
“Why should I care about that?”
Well, why should he? The guy would still be CEO of the large company and everyone would soon forget (like I did) the magazine story in the first place.
What’s the point?
Why, indeed, should you care about the criticisms, the naysayers, the negative people?
Get a thicker skin and brush off the criticism because you’re going to get it. The most Successful Pre-Need Sellers have learned to tune it all out. Once you’ve conquered your FEARS your SUCCESS is at the door knocking.
The Pre-Need Seller able to take risks, experience failure, accept losses, and incur the criticism of others without insomnia will acquire immense success. Fear of others’ opinions hampers you more than any other obstacle.
Happy Selling!
David…
P.S. Learn to brush off the criticisms and become more successful…beyond your wildest dreams.
