Don’t shoot the messenger, listen to the message

All to often we tend to shoot the messenger when we receive bad news.  Because of this we tend to focus on everything but the truth.  As a result a great many Sellers of Pre-Need go by the way side because they simply focus on the wrong thing.

The ability to invite, and welcome the reality of the situation by recognizing it’s about the message not the messenger.  Where we are in the forest when there is a fire is important because we very well may be at the edge.  But ignoring the message and focusing on the messenger is a common response to news we don’t want to hear.

I call it “reality”.

I’ve had a few posts where a number of you had sent me extremely nasty emails because I’m pointing out the obvious.  Because I (the messenger) bring you bad news you focus on me instead of the news.

The news in this case is the reality.

We are in our Eleventh Month of the Year.  November 20th to be exact and the question is are you where you want to be or where you expect to be?

In other words, did you exceed your goals for the year, yet?  Well, if you have exceeded your goals congratulations.  Now it’s time to establish new goals that will stretch you further than you’ve ever been stretched before.

It’s time to expand beyond where you thought you could go to greater heights.  You can do it!  You can double your income in six months if you’ll do a little bit of planning, a little bit of smarter work not harder work, and a little bit of stretching beyond your comfort zone.

A great goal is to double your income in half the time

If you haven’t achieved your goals yet than let me be the first messenger to tell you why.  You’re getting lazy.  You’re not working like you said you would.  You’re getting to comfortable.  Maybe you had a big sale and you’ve stopped doing what works.

Maybe you haven’t had any sales and you’re lying to yourself by saying

“there aren’t any people buying right now because ________ “

Fill in the blank with; the economy, no job, no money, not interested, no one pre-plans anymore, no one’s home, no one’s answering the telephone, yadda, yadda, yadda.

B.S.!

There’s plenty of business available because people pre-plan in good times and bad, great economy or lousy, young or old.

This career you find yourself in is the most recession proof available and the most rewarding.

I can tell you from personal experience that there is NEW business out there for you.  You’ve got to put on your shoes and go get it.

Find your niche,
work your niche,
start with your natural market.

Use a system.

Execute.

If you’ll develop your niche, work your niche through a system and execute the game plan you will succeed.

Once you’ve captured one niche go after another niche.

Develop three methods of prospecting and do something every day that’ll get you closer to a sale.

Invest in yourself because if you don’t NO ONE ELSE WILL.

Make your goals uncomfortable for you.

If you shoot for what you’ve always done you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.

Shoot for something you’ve never done so you can get
what you’ve always wanted.
