Shut the email off and pick up another hour a day

I spoke about this time saving tip in my book; 50 Ways to Get Rich & Stay Rich Selling.  The concept is to time-block because most of us have people stealing from us every day.  What are they stealing?

Time!

Ask yourself if you aren’t losing time to a multitude of different interruptions through out the day.  Come on, be honest about it.  How many times a day do you check your email?  Once, twice, three times?  How about ten, twenty, thirty, forty, one hundred times?

A good friend of mine has his email plugged into his phone.  I’m not sure about the mechanics but every time he receives an email his cell phone tells him.

Here’s a real simple suggestion.

Check your email twice a day.  Once in the morning before you get started with your day and once in the evening before you end your day.

In a previous post http://howtosellpreneed.com/time-management/turn-time-into-money#more-927 I talked about time wasters and how people can steal your time.  Remember we all have the same amount of time know matter how rich or poor we are.  Everyone has the same amount of time in a day.

In my previous post under mistake number two I talk about how people will steal your time and not even realize it. 

Here’s the recommendation.

Time block everything.  Time block when you Prospect, when you Present, when you’ll do your office stuff, when you’ll check your email.  Time block it all.

The outcome of organizing your day will result in an immediate satisfaction as you’ll accomplish more in one day than you get done in a week.

Now I realize for some it will be difficult.  Many of you will want to check the email every other minute.  Some will feel compelled to stand around the coffee machine or fiddle with other time wasting things.

All I can tell you is…give it a try.

Time block your day and do it for a week.  It’ll result in less stress and more sales.
