Preneed Selling Time Efficiency

Last time we spoke about leveraging your time.  You can get that previous post here.

Today, I’m going to describe how you can use a time concept called “Time-Blocking”.  The idea is pretty simple and you can do this even if you’re scheduled at a funeral home or cemetery.

The first thing to understand is … the only way you can double your sales is to become more efficient and leverage every activity you do.  You might think it’s difficult but it is much easier than you think.  The tough part is remembering to do it.  So, you’ll need reminders until you get in the habit.  Once again, my previous post has more on it here.

Today’s preneed time efficiency is about “blocking”.

The idea is to block out time for every activity you do.  If you’re phoning.  You phone at a specific time and all you do is phone for that time-block.  Nothing else.  You can’t take a break, you just phone with a beginning time and ending time.  This time-block can be 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and more.  No matter what it is, the activity must be grouped together and the same.

So, if you’re going to write letters, don’t write letters during your phone time.  If you’re going to roam around on the internet than don’t do it at the same time as something else you’ve time-blocked.

Any time-blocked activity must include only the activity designated.  There’s no distractions.  There’s no nothing.  You just do what you’re pre-set time-blocked activity is, that’s all.

Also, I recommend keeping those time-blocked activities short in duration to start.  If you’re not used to it don’t attempt a 4 hour time-block of anything.  You’ll never make it.

Instead, try either 15 or 25 minute time-blocks to start.

It’ll take you a few weeks to get used to it and you might find you need to lock your phone in the drawer and turn your computer off to do something like phoning but it’ll serve you well.

Happy Selling!
